Principal's Message 4/20/2018
This week the Salt Lake Community College’s “Know Greater Heroes” program presented an assembly to our students. There was dancing and music, laughing and fun. Students learned about trusting in themselves and that they can be their own hero. It was a motivational experience. Today students are participating in a Google VR experience. I am excited to hear and see their response. There are some fun opportunities to look at below.
School Community Council candidacy and election: There are candidate forms in the main office to be a member of our School Community Council. The SCC is given funding from the state to help meet an individual school’s goals. We meet 5-6 times a year for approximately an hour. We look at data, goals, and overall needs for the school to help us determine how to best appropriate the money. We also discuss school safe walking routes, district issues and questions, as well as school initiatives. We love parent input and support and I highly encourage you to consider joining our council. You need to come to the office and fill out a candidacy form which is due on May 4th. We will have a vote to elect our members May 7-9.
Storytelling Festival: We introduced the storytelling festival before Spring Break. Students are encouraged to participate in a class storytelling contest. Each class may select 1 or 2 students to represent their class at our Bella Vista Storytelling Festival and Art Show on April 24th. That night our storytellers will share their stories several times to different audiences. Our art show will also be taking place that night. All students will have work in the art show for you to come look through. This is a fun family event from 6:30 – 7:30 on Tuesday, April 24th!
Parent Input forms: There are parent input forms available in the office. You may fill one out to provide information to the school to consider as we make classes for the upcoming year. This form will be due on May 11th.
