- Gay Lynn: thank you for all the ways you show up for our students.
- Input from the Community if present
- Concern: staff is parking in the parent lot while the staff lot is mostly empty and blocked, so we are really squeezed out of safe parking spaces for pickup. This pushes a lot of students and parents off of school property, which creates safety concerns as 50 staff get 3 parking lots and 200 kids only have access to a handful of stalls. Aside from opening more stalls, another solution could be to keep playground aides available an extra 10 minutes before sending kids to the office. That would be a way to accommodate the traffic congestion created from lack of parking available (I.e. aides stay until 3:40/3:45 pm). And/or have safety patrol open up the south lot after buses leave (they usually leave a little early). I’ve also received several complaints on the south lot not being available for preschool parents since their entry is in that lot and it’s blocked 24/7, but I’m not sure what the bus schedule is for preK pickup and dropoff.
- Solution: Tracy motioned for the north lot to be exclusive for parents and have staff park in the two other lots (back and south lots) and send communication to preschool families to use the north lot for pick/dropoff. 4 out of 4 voted yes.
- Boundary Study: are any staff in favor of the school being closed? No.
- Asked if the principal could bring the Oct. 16th meeting to the top of the weekly communication. Barbra will do this. How to address students that bring it up – be honest and simple and reassure that the adults will make sure that they are okay no matter what happens and seek support from principal and social worker.
