Bella Vista Families,

Happy Halloween!!!  I love October!  It’s time to crunch leaves, drink cider, and read a scary story!  Boo!

October means Halloween!  I don’t know about you, but our students are very excited for Halloween and our costume parade on October 31, at 9:15 AM.    For this year, we are planning to parade outside on the south playground instead of in the gym.

Here’s the school’s plan:

  • We will collect the students in the school by grade so we are a long line of costumed tigers, and then we will make our way outside to the back of the school where we will walk in a big circle around our friends and family.
  • After circling around a couple of times, we will make our way back inside for Halloween fun!

Here’s what the school needs you to do:

  • Send your students to school in their costumes.
    • Remember:  No masks, weapons, or facsimiles of weapons.
  • Bring your blankets and hot cocoa and find a viewing spot by the playground.
    • Bring your own folding/lawn chairs.
    • A parade route map is forthcoming so you will know where to set up your chairs.
  • Take pictures, wave, greet, and smile as you watch the tigers on parade.
  • We are requesting that no parents enter the school after the parade.

Inclement weather:  No problem!  We will have the traditional costume parade inside the school gym.

After the parade, all students will participate with their grades in Halloween activities sponsored by the PTA:  A Halloween walk on the stage (student friendly), a Halloween treat, and a Halloween craft.

It’s bound to be a “spook-tacular” day!

Friendly School Reminders:

  • Reflections Open House – View our Reflections submissions
    • Tuesday, October 22, from 3:30 to 6:00
  • Reflections Awards Assembly
    • Thursday, October 24, 9:15

Happy Haunting,

Hello Bella Vista families!

Roar!  It’s been a great start to an exciting school year at Bella Vista.  I’ve enjoyed meeting your students and talking with many of you. We had great attendance at our Back-to-School night where we were able to share, discuss, and learn together.   There’s no doubt in my mind that many wonderful things will happen this year for the Tigers!

Here are a couple of announcements and reminders:

  • Thank you to the PTA for a wonderful school carnival last week. After checking numbers, we had 72% of our students in attendance for a FREE ride wristband.Hurray!I believe that cotton candy was the big food hit of the night, while the giant polar bear slide was the big jump attraction. It was great to see our Tigers and their families having such a good time. And, the weather even held out so we could enjoy the evening.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are next week, September 25 and 26.You should have received an email or a flyer about setting your appointment time.

I plan on sending regular announcements, reminders, and informative emails regularly.  If you have a concern, comment, or question, please let me know so I can assist you.  I love being a Tiger!  ROAR!

Hello Tiger Families,

We have had a successful start to the school year! In just a few short days, our tigers have learned routines and procedures, have reviewed school and class rules, have started Brain Boosters (art, computer, library, and PE), and have found a place in my heart.

Thank you for sharing your tigers with me… ☺

Our staff members’ number one priority is to keep your students safe.

Thank you for following the school’s safety procedures in our parking lots.

Here are a few beginning of the year reminders/announcements:

  • Students should not arrive to school before 8:30 in the morning unless they are here for breakfast because there is no adult supervision on the playground until 8:30
  • The south drop off area is ONLY for buses not for dropping of students
  • The south lot is to be used for staff and handicap parking only
  • The north lot is to be used for parking or dropping off students
  • If you are leaving your car to walk your child into the school, you must park in a designated parking spot
  • The drop off lane is not to be used for parking
  • When dropping off students, remember to pull ALL the way forward so that there is not traffic back-up on the street
  • Remember to always use the designated cross walks

School personnel have assigned responsibilities for outside AM and PM supervision. If you have any question about parking, etc., talk to one of the staff members on duty and/or follow their directions.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 2, because of Labor Day. Enjoy your long weekend!

Thank you,

Sandra Dahl-Houlihan
