Parent Newsletter 9-4-20

Hello Tiger Nation,

When I told teachers that I was going to send a principal newsletter and asked what items they wanted me to communicate home, ALL teachers responded with the same response.    We are so grateful for the trust each of you gave us sending your students back in person or online.    It has been rejuvenating having students back in the building or communicating virtually with them.

A few items to bring to your attention:

  1. Pick-up and drop-off: A gentle reminder that all students should be picked up and dropped off using the north parking lot.  Please DO NOT use the bus lane for the safety of your student.   Also, when picking up or dropping off please utilize the crosswalks.  Walking between cars can be unsafe and we want to instill good, safe habits for our students.
  2. Virtual Back To School Night: A big bummer we all experienced was not having the opportunity to participate in our Back To School Night.  Our teachers wanted to “virtually meet” each of you and introduce themselves.  On the Bella Vista website you can find your student’s teacher and a short video introducing themselves.
  3. COVID reminders:
    1. Please keep your student home if they feel sick.
    2. Continue sending your student with a mask each day and wash masks often to keep them clean.

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend and soaks up every last drop of summer before it is gone. Remember there is no school on Monday, September 7th.

In-person students:

  • School begins August 24th for 1st thru 5th Kindergarten students will begin August 27th.    Kindergarten KEEP testing will take place August 24th thru 26th.   The school will notify you of your appointment by mail.
  • Arrival: The first bell rings at 8:40 and teachers will let students in their grade level doors.   School officially begins at 8:45.  The playground will be closed before and after school so please DO NOT drop off students early to play.   Tiger paws have been painted outside each grade level entrance where students can stand to be physically distanced from one another until they are allowed to enter the school.

  • Masks: Each day please send your student to school with their mask on when they get on the bus or step out of the car.  Begin speaking with your students about the requirement for wearing a mask while at school so they are prepared.  Students will also be provided a lanyard to clip their mask to when not wearing it at lunch or recess to keep it from getting lost.
  • Water bottles: The school is providing each student with a reusable water bottle.   We encourage students to use water bottles to avoid using the water fountains.    If parents wish to send students with a water bottle from home that is totally acceptable.
  • Supplies: The school has bought each student a pencil box and various supplies in order to not have students share.     Your student will receive their supplies on the first day of school.
  • Dismissal: School ends at 3:20pm.    Once again the playground will be closed after school.   Students are expected to go directly home.
